Botanical Flower Watercolor

My artwork is a painting of a flower. The flower is yellow with  dark brown center and a green stem. The background is purple. I used different colored watercolors such as yellow, white, purple, green, and dark brown to make the most realistic depiction of my flower as I could. I used the paper towel technique to try to make some parts lighter than others. I chose to paint this flower because when we went to Tower Hill and was looking at flowers, I saw this one and thought it was pretty. My goal for this artwork was to use one watercolor technique to create a painting of a plant. In creating this artwork, I learned that watercolors are very easy to control how much color you use, but it is also hard to make sure that you don’t mix the colors when they touch. The final piece was slightly messier than I first imagined, but is similar to what I first imagined it would look like.IMG_20200106_082946
