Fundraiser For Chorus at Local Church

This past Saturday, December 2nd, the world-renowned Groton-Dunstable Chamber Chorus held a concert at St. Joseph’s Church in Pepperell, Massachusetts to raise funds for their upcoming trip to perform at Carnegie Hall this spring under the direction of Grammy-winning composer Eric Whitacre. They sang five selections from their repertoire for the crowd and were very well received. The Chamber Chorus had a good turnout for their gig, attracting more people than had come the year before when they held a similar fundraising concert for their trip to Italy and Croatia where they sang at churches and other venues. Along, with their larger turnout, they also brought in more money at this event than they did at last year’s, collecting $1500 from their generous audience. Ali Cartier, a junior at GDRHS and a soprano in the Chamber Chorus said that the gig “was a great way to kick off fundraising for the trip and a great first public performance for this year’s Chamber. We’re beyond ecstatic about the support we got from the community.”

The GD Chamber Chorus will be busking this upcoming Saturday, December 9 at 12:00 PM at the Western Avenue Open Studios in Lowell, Massachusetts to raise more money for their trip. Stop by and pitch in if you can! (Photos by Tracy Cartier.)
