Great Gazooks – Linkage

gazookThis lab was to help us learn how to take genes on a chromosome and to find the crossovers and where each is located on the chromosome. We were given the phenotypes of the parents and the children and we had to find the parent and recombinant classes. From there, we had to calculate the frequencies of the crossovers from the different traits, then create chromosome map. This lab was a bit tricky at first, but once you understand where the crossovers are, calculating them to the map was easy. This did help with understanding how linkage worked in the chromosomes because they affect the other genes.
