After the race the rat went into hiding for a couple of days because he was embarrassed but he did get  a little wiser. He learned to not be a big mouth and not brag because you never know  what the thing is capable of. The rat still liked to challenge animals but did not brag when he won and was a good sport when he lost.
As for the beetle she loved her new coat. She flew around in her house admiring her new it. She loved how it caught the sunlight and was very pretty. But she never forgot about the race and realized that she was slow so she practiced to get faster.
One day the beetle and rat came across each other and raced again. They decided to only run not fly. The beetle was getting faster because she practiced but the rat still won. But the rat was a good sport and said good race and they lived happily ever after.
