My Narrative Artwork.

Completed Artist Statement (Sep 30, 2020 at 10_36 AM) (1)

My artwork is a big Large mouth Bass fish I caught in 2016. The fish was 5.2 pounds and 21 inches long. I caught the fish under my old lake house’s dock. In my drawing the fish is about to eat a much smaller fish in the lake.

I created my artwork by first outlining large fish shapes and then I used colored pencils for color and I also mixed colors together to make it look better. The top of the imagine is brighter water because it’s closer to the surface of the lake and the bottom of the imagine is a darker shade with some sea plants, that is the bottom or deeper part of the lake.

My artwork shows a fish I finally caught after four years of trying. It was a large mouth bass in Lake Ossipee in New Hampshire. I caught this fish when I was ten but this same fish snapped my fishing line when I was only 6 so It took me 4 years to catch that fish.

My goals were to make the artwork look real and make it seem similar to the fish. I want to blend the colors well to make it seem more realistic and it worked. Another goal was for the water around the fish to be real so I made the top of the imagine the shallower section a brighter shade of blue and the deeper selection at the bottom of the image a mix between purple and dark blue.

I think this image turned out good but I also think I could have done better with the proportions of the fish and the color of the fish body because I couldn’t seem to get the right color. I also couldn’t get the right angle of the fish mouth so I decided to keep it opened as if it were trying to catch another fish.
