This past weekend, a group of about 40 Groton-Dunstable Regional High School music students traveled down to New Jersey to compete in an adjudicated competition run by Music In the Parks. The GD Chorus, Concert Band, and Jazz Band all competed in this competition. The students had been preparing and rehearsing for the whole semester leading up to the competition, and when the day came, all of their hard work paid off. The Chorus took home first place and the Concert and Jazz Bands each took home second in their respective categories.
“The music program is full of extremely dedicated and talented musicians, and a lot of time and effort went into preparing for the competition,†said Megan Fitzpatrick, a junior at GDRHS who is one of several students that competed with all three ensembles this past weekend. “It felt amazing to see our hard work pay off and make our school proud.â€Â
Next year, the GD music program will have the exciting opportunity to perform at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. If you are looking to see the GD Music students perform in the coming weeks, our spring concert will be on Thursday, May 24th at 7:00 PM in the PAC. So please come on out if you can, your support would be much appreciated.
