Dog Adoption

Dog Adoption Artist Statement

My artwork is of a family getting a new dog from a rescue. The sky is a bright blue, symbolizing what a happy day it is for that family. Getting a new dog is such an exciting experience, and that is what this family is going through. An obvious element in my work is the family in the front, which is the family who is adopting a dog. I created this on a piece of paper I got from a sketchbook. I used colored pencils and pencils to create this piece, and I used shading to make it look more realistic. Getting my dog last winter inspired me to create this piece, since it was such a happy and exciting time for me and my family. In my picture, I tried to show happiness and being excited. The main family in the front is happy to be getting their new dog, and so is everyone in the back. My goal was to create artwork that showed a family adopting a new dog, and I think I did a good job portraying that. I reached my goal because if you examine my drawing, you could figure out it was a family getting a new dog. I like the artwork I created because I did what I was trying to do, which was portraying a family getting a new dog. During this, I learned that shading can make a big difference. This will influence my future artworks because I am now more experienced in drawing people.
