My artwork is a drawing of an earth before and after climate change affected the earth. My subject matter is to explain how climate change has been changing the way the earth looks in a worse way. The title of my artwork is the way earth was before humans took their surroundings for granted. The elements that are most obvious in my work is how I color coded the two sides of the earth to demonstrate what the earth will appear as if people don’t change their ways. To create my artwork I used thin and thick sharpie markers to make the lines that I was tracing over stand out more. I also used the techniques of scraping my color pencil shading to make the colors blend in more together. I also used the rubbing technique with the color pencils and watercolors. The big idea behind my artwork was to show how people have been taking advantage of our earth, and if they don’t change their ways that the earth will have no more life. And that animal species that people adore will be soon extinct because they won’t be able to adapt to how rapid the climate is changing. My artwork expresses a social problem with climate change. The emotions that I tried to show in the two sides of the earth was sadness, despair, misery, struggle, and isolation. The emotions that I tried to show on the side of the earth before climate change was happiness, well-being, delightfulness, and gratefulness. The goals that I had for my project was to show what the earth would end up like if us as humans don’t stop burning non renewable resources and do other damaging things to the environment surrounding us. My thoughts on my overall artwork was that I did my best and that I added as many details as possible to show how climate change is affecting the entire earth. Yes my final piece is how I imagined it, I imagined my final piece to show two halves of the earth a before and after of how the earth will look like once climate change changes the entire environment.
