Saint George the Slayer
Â
My fair maiden watches in awe
As my spear of justice stands
At the ready plunge into the beast’s head
I have stood ready waiting for the
foul creature to sliver
out of it’s hole
Around us the bones of the dragon’s
Victims lay in the barren wasteland
The people of the castle
spectate, for the vermin has been
plaguing the castle and village
This is a poem for Bernat Martorell’s
painting, Saint George Killing the Dragon
