My project shows how our future can be damaged by pollution and global climate change. Due to pollution, the climate on Earth is actually being changed. Examples of this are warmer or colder average weather in some places, bad air quality, and in this case, extreme weather conditions. These conditions such as hurricanes or big storms can bring massive amounts of pollution into the world’s oceans. This is represented in my artwork in the form of trash like cans, styrofoam pieces, bottles, spoons, etc. To make my project, I started with taking a big cardboard board and painting it with really murky and dirty oceanic colors, next, I started to piece together and construct the fish outline (this step took a lot of work), after that, I hot glued down all of the pieces so that they wouldn’t move, the final and most time consuming step of the process was gluing one by one, hundreds of small styrofoam pieces to make it look more like a fish. My project expresses two issues, one is global climate change and how its effecting us, and the other is how pollution is affecting others. My goals for this project are to catch some peoples eyes and make them question on how they are treating the world (like how much trash they are producing). While making this project, I learned how to be patient while creating my artwork, one example of this is while gluing the styrofoam pieces to the fish. This took a lot of time and I had to be very careful with what pieces I placed where.
