My artist statement. Watercolor venus flytrap

My venus flytrap painting was made by outlining a venus flytrap from a photo and filling each part with the appropriate colours. I painted with watercolors and salt to make realistic patterns.

To get a vivid picture for my art to be based off of, I searched for venus flytrap pictures online and tried my absolute best to draw the same pose of the venus flytrap.

The idea of my painting is to paint a venus flytrap in a pot at a table or windowsill or something because many people keep them in their house to get rid of flies.

My goal for this project was to use multiple watercolor techniques on my painting to make it look less bland. And it was also required.

I honestly thought my venus flytrap would come out badly but it is actually better than I thought it would be. The watercolor techniques definitely made it seem more abstract. Out of all my artwork so far this year. This I felt made me grow most as an artist in general.
