Self portrait

My self-portrait was created by using my favorite things to create a portrait of me. Such as things like fruit as my hair because I love fruit and I like to be healthy and fruit is commonly represented as healthy! Also, I put things like a heart as my nose to represent that I am a caring and loving person. I also used paint to give color and more meaning to my piece because it gives things more feeling as well. I made my neck in the self-portrait the Irish flag color and order to show that I an Irish!
The media I used for this piece was watercolors, color pencil, and a pencil at first to sketch out my portrait. When I started my portrait I first made a face and then I moved one to draw my hair as fruit! I also used a paintbrush to finish my piece with watercolors, and I used a brush from all different sizes to color in big and small things.
This piece of artwork is inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo and how he turned fruit into the shape of his face and made his face an art piece. That is what I did as well, by taking other objects and fruit to create an art piece full of creativity and abstractness. The big idea behind my artwork is that I drew things on my portrait that really portray who I am.
This art piece was definitely different than other art pieces that I have done and it has helped to challenge myself and grow in fields of art that I am not used to! My goal for this artwork is to have created a self-portrait the is showcasing myself with things that I like and my personalities. Also, another goal is that I wanted to be able to become more comfortable with abstract art. I think that this piece definitely helped me to reach that goal because I got to make my self with an abstract twist by using all kinds of shapes and colors.
My self-portrait is pretty close to how I imagined it would turn out. I was able to take things that I liked and things about me and make them into a self-portrait. This piece will most likely help in the future because if we do a self-portrait piece like this I will be able to already have an idea of what I might want to include. Also, it might help me in the future when we do abstract pieces with all kinds of shapes and colors.
