I really enjoyed this case study and the gruesomely interesting story of Richard Ramirez’s life. His back story explained why he was so insane as an adult, and his purposeless, merciless crimes were so brutal that it felt like I was reading a script for a horror movie. There were also a few aspects to the murders that were hilarious, such as one victim who survived after he fled her house after attempting to strangle her with a telephone cord. He stated that the phone began to spark and he believed she was possessed by Jesus, so he ran. This study also showed me how much forensic-science has advanced in the previous decades. With the amount of violence and rape associated with his crimes, he would’ve been identified in a heart beat today, but he was finally caught after several murders by a single fingerprint left on a car that he stole.
