The Future we Make

IMG_0826

In my piece I attempted to convey the appearance of the world if climate change continues to affect us. It shows a factory pipe emitting smoke into the clear blue sky.  Within this “smoke” is a destroyed city, which represents what might be the future. Behind the buildings is a sun set which means the hope that in the next coming years we try to repair the damage we have made.  To make my piece I drew and colored the detailed parts with colored pencils and used oil pastels to create the sunset and the sky. I added bleak dots of color in the sky to show debris in the dirty air and atmosphere, along with derailed cars and a dirty river to emphasize the dark future.  A big idea behind my artwork was to attempt emotion and to show how global warming would hurt us. The goal of my artwork was to display this large issue of pollution in a creative way that shows the cause and effect of climate change. If I were to change something about my art, I would try to improve my drawing and detail so that it could really show what exactly I was thinking.  I think this project helped me push my creative mind and I am content with the outcome.
